The sharks always looked solid, which is an important thing that shark movies often fail at. But still real bad and pretty uncomfortable to watch.
_Final rating:★½: - Boring/disappointing. Avoid where possible._

What can I say about this movie? Let's see here. For starters it should not have been titled Open Water 3. That was the distributors attempt as a quick cash grab. This movie has zero things to do with the original. None of the characters were likeable and the mistakes made could have easily been avoided. I found the film to have been both boring and predictable. Not to mention unoriginal. I felt that a lot of the scenes were plain and simple ripped off from other films and poorly edited together. The idea of shark cage diving and then having the cage to malfunction was last seen in "47 Meters Down" which was imho iffy in it's own right. The video/dvd box looks similar to Jaws with the GSW rising to the surface and the cage sinking well see my earlier comment about 47 Meters. The ending was also unoriginal, boring, and poorly acted. The sharks however did seem okay. CGI might make things a little easier in the editing room but it is not easy to get them right. I'd avoid this stinker at all costs. You're better off to screen the original.
I saw this movie after it was recommended. That was just a waste of time. Thankfully I saw it on the telly for free. The poster looked kind of cool. The movie itself was not. In fact "Cage Dive" is trying to cash in using the Open Water title. This film had nothing to do with the Chris Kentis film. In fact it is similar in nature to "47 Meters Down" instead. Basically a small group of unlikable unrealistic friends decide to make an audition video for an extreme survivor type reality program. They decide to fly from Los Angeles to Australia for shark diving. Still with me? It gets dumber from here. Predictably the boat is capsized and everyone is dumped into the ocean. Various people die from either the accident or from shark attacks. One of the members of the group finds a flare and winds up killing someone in a raft due to her own petty and selfish nature. The flare accident was just that. I don't want to give away the ending but...Let's just say there was no way the film could get any dumber.

Open Water 3 is low on all departments, and two of the main ones that affect viewing experience are the characters and the number of thrilling sequences. While I loved the attempt to add some drama between the characters and the use of night vision somewhere during the 80-minute running time, I did not enjoy watching it. The characters are repulsive, which gave me an idea that maybe the director did not care enough to make this an entertaining/serious movie about the perils of going near sharks. The weakest in the franchise. (Grade D). TN.
